  Accordare Privacy Policy

 

We at Accordare, Inc. are committed to respecting the privacy of our users. We strive to provide a safe, secure user experience.

Our Privacy Policy tells you how we use and protect your personal information. We follow the guidelines provided by the U.S. Department of Commerce in its document Framework for Global Electronic Commerce and the guidelines provided by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

 Notification

This Privacy Policy describes how we handle your personal information for our services on the Accordare Web site. The policy link appears in the footer of each Web page.

Your data will be stored and processed in whole or in part in the United States. The information we gather on the Accordare Web site may be shared with the Accordare business partners and university clients in order to deliver the products and services we offer to prospective students and universities such as searches for prospective attendees or in order to analyze our database such as aggregate profiling of our registered users.

Our Web site contains links to other Web sites over which we have no control. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of other Web sites to which you choose to link from our Web site. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those other Web sites so you can understand how they collect, use and share your information.

By accepting the Privacy Policy and the User Agreement in registration, you expressly consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy is effective upon acceptance for new users and is otherwise effective on February 5, 2006.

 

 Data Collection

You can browse the Web site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. Once you give us your personal information, you are not anonymous to us. If you choose to provide us with personal information, you consent to the transfer and storage of that information to our servers located in the United States.

We may collect and store the following personal information:

  • email address, physical contact information, profile information about your search for an MBA program, and sometimes resume-related information;
  • transactional information based on your activities on the Web site (such as registering to attend a tour, applying to present at a tour, comparing university programs, searching for prospective students, and content you generate or that relates to your profile);
  • community discussions, chats, correspondence through the Web site, and correspondence sent to us;
  • computer sign-on data, statistics on page views, traffic to and from the Web site, and ad data;
  • other information, including IP address and standard web log information.
 

 Use and Disclosure

We don't sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes except as described below. We may combine your information with information we collect from other companies (such as demographic data) to improve and personalize our services. If you don't wish to receive marketing communications from us, simply Send us an email with your preference.

  1. We disclose information to companies and individuals we employ to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include hosting our Web servers, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, and providing customer service. These companies and individuals will have access to your personal information as necessary to perform their functions, but they may not share that information with any other third party.
  2. We disclose information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect our rights or property or our affiliated companies; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public.
  3. If you have opted out of sharing information with our business school clients, then we will not share your information with our business school clients, except for the cases described in this document.
  4. We disclose information to our business school clients relating to your registration to attend an Accordare event unless you have requested otherwise. The participation of our business schools and partners in Accordare events enables us to provide the MBA fair free of charge to all registrants. By registering for this event, you agree that we may share your registration information with our sponsors unless you have opted out.
  5. I consent to Accordare sharing my name, organization name, and my email address and other profile information with each organization who scans my badge so they can send me marketing communications. The use of this data is subject to each organization's independent privacy policy.
  6. We disclose information to our business school clients relating to your registration if you attend an Accordare event and provide the university with your registration id or allow your registration badge to be scanned by the university representative. We disclose this information even if you have previously chosen not to receive the Accordare e-bulletin or emails from universities, or you opted out in your registration. By agreeing to provide your registration id to a university representative at an event, you are agreeing to disclose your registration information to that university.
  7. You will be automatically subscribed to our eBulletin, distributed throughout the year with information about MBA programs and MBA admissions. The eBulletin does not promote or sell any business schools or services. It contains no advertising. You can unsubscribe from the eBulletin any time after you receive the first issue by clicking on the "Unsubscribe" link in the eBulletin.
  8. We disclose and transfer information to a third party who acquires all or a substantial portion of our business, whether such acquisition is by way of merger, consolidation or purchase of all or a substantial portion of our assets. In addition, in the event we become the subject of a bankruptcy proceeding, whether voluntary or involuntary, we or our trustee in bankruptcy may sell, license or otherwise dispose of such information in a transaction approved by the bankruptcy court. You will be notified of sale of all or a substantial portion of our business to a third party via email or through a prominent notice posted on the Accordare Web site.
 

 Personal Information on Profiles and Resumes

Accordare provides a network and world-class series of events to connect prospective MBA Students with Business School programs.

For student profile information and registration information, you may choose not to allow our business school clients to see that information after you receive the first eBulletin by clicking on the "Unsubscribe" link in the eBulletin. Or you can Send us an email and ask to be unsubscribed.

For resume information, we provide the ability to have your resume visible to our business school clients or not visible. You can set and unset this option at any time from the Edit Resume page.

We attempt to limit access to our searchable database (or copies thereof) only to paying business school clients, potential employers, as well as law enforcement and national security agencies, but cannot guarantee that other parties will not gain access to this database. We are not responsible for the use made of resumes by third parties who access such resumes while they are in our searchable database.

Please remember that if you post any of your personal information in public areas of the Accordare Web site, such as in online forums or chat rooms, or in the Accordare searchable database, such information may be collected and used by others over whom we have no control. We are not responsible for the use made by third parties of information you post or otherwise make available in public areas of the Web site.

 

 Cookies

We use "cookies" (small files placed on your hard drive) on certain pages of the Web site to help analyze our web page flow, customize our services, measure promotional effectiveness, and promote trust and safety. Cookies are required for user login to the Web site.

Cookies are not used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to your computer, and can only be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. It also identifies you for user login. Most cookies are "session cookies," meaning that they are automatically deleted from your hard drive at the end of a session.

You may have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline all cookies if you prefer. Alternatively, you may be able to modify your browser setting to notify you each time a cookie is tendered and permit you to accept or decline cookies on an individual basis. However, if you decline a cookie from the Accordare, it may interfere with your use of the Web site and you will not be able to login to see your user area.

 

 Event Attendance and Photos

Accordare takes photos and video footage onsite at events. I grant Accordare full rights to use the images resulting from the photography/video filming, and any reproductions or adaptations of the images for marketing, publicity or other purposes to help achieve the group’s aims. This might include (but is not limited to), the right to use them in their printed and online publicity, social media, and press releases.

 

 No spam, spyware, or spoofing

We and our users do not tolerate spam. To report to us any Accordare-related spam or spoof, please forward the email to with a description of the problem.

You may not use our communication tools to send spam or otherwise send content that would violate our User Agreement. We do not permanently store email messages sent through these tools. If you send an email to an email address that is not registered in our community, we do not permanently store that email or use that email address for any marketing purpose. We do not rent or sell these email addresses.

 

 Account Protection

Your password is the key to your account. Use unique numbers, letters, and special characters and do not disclose your the Accordare password to anyone. If you do share your password or your personal information with others, remember that you are responsible for all actions taken in the name of your account. If you lose control of your password, you may lose substantial control over your personal information. Therefore, if your password has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately notify the Accordare and change your password.

 

 Accessing and Changing Your Personal Information

You can see, review and change all of your personal information by logging into the Site. Generally, we will not manually modify your personal information because it is very difficult to verify your identity remotely. You should promptly update your personal information if it changes or is inaccurate. Once you make a public posting, you may not be able to change or remove it. Upon your request, we will close your account and remove your personal information from view as soon as reasonably possible, based on your account activity and in accordance with applicable law. We do retain personal information from closed accounts in order to comply with law, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our User Agreement, and take other actions otherwise permitted by law.

 

 Security

Your information is stored on our servers located in the United States. We treat data as an asset that must be protected and use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access and disclosure. However, as you probably know, third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications, and other users may abuse or misuse your personal information that they collect from the Web site. Therefore, although we work very hard to protect your privacy, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your personal information for improper purposes.

 

 Not Intended for Children

Accordare Web site is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
